BBC Radio 1 DJ Rob da Bank will be bringing his live scoring of the 1933 classic King Kong to the Branchage film festival in Jersey in September.
He originally created the score for a BBC Four special over Christmas in 2008 with a tracklisting spanning music from electronica, classic rock and dubstep.
At the time Rob da Bank said: “I asked the BBC if I could do an alternative soundtrack for any of the films going out over Christmas and, lo and behold, the 1933 version of King Kong was up for a spruce-up!
“So I’ve been busy digging through my record library and trying to take things from a different angle. Being such a great film it has made it a lot of fun to do.
“My soundtrack takes in everything from dubstep to rock and lots of electronica and weird beats. I hope people enjoy it!”
Chris Bell, Event Organiser: “This event is just a perfect fit for Branchage. King Kong is undeniably one of the most important movies ever made and its influence can be seen in so many modern blockbuster films.
“It’s incredible enough as it is but we’re delighted to be welcome Mr Da Bank to give it a modern twist with his alternative soundtrack, making this an even more special event.
“It’s a carefully thought-out selection of music and is going to sound fantastic through Cineworld’s soundsystem. Rob has put so much into British music over the last decade or so, so it’s a real privilege to have him at Branchage.”
